Attendance is open to all, and there are 30 applicants so far, representing littorinid variation, migrations, distributions and biodiversity, morphology and anatomy, fossils and evolution, reproductive biology and pharmacology. The theme will examine the gradual professionalisation of malacology and changing role of the amateur during the early part of this century. The invited speakers are, in order of speaking: David Allen, Graham Oliver, Nick Evans, Ian Killeen, Bryan Clarke, James Murray, Laurence Cook, Robert Cameron, Brian Morton and John Messenger. The meeting will be co-hosted by the Conchological Society of Great Britain and Ireland, the Linnean Society of London and the Society for the History of Natural History.
